Additional Shrek - Music From the Original Motion Picture Information

Like The Muppet Show or The Simpsons, Shrek is tiered with visual appeal, fantasy, and sophisticated humor that appeals to children and adults on two mutually exclusive levels. Judging by the soundtrack alone, there is some genuine emotion coming from this movie; Rufus Wainwright, the Proclaimers, and especially the Eels all pen winsome, longing tunes. Dana Glover's "It Is You (I Have Loved)" represents the soundtrack's requisite glossy ballad, but it's better than most, and John Powell's climactic, orchestral "True Love's First Kiss" makes one wish there was a full score to accompany this soundtrack. On the flip side, Smash Mouth cover the Monkees' "I'm a Believer" with a groovy treatment of crunchy hip-hop beats, and Leslie Carter (sister of Aaron and Nick) gives a perky performance on the Britney-esque "Like Wow!" The soundtrack squeezes the last drops of juice from the overplayed Smash Mouth hit "All Star," but other than that, it strikes a great balance between cute-but-not-precious pop hits, and more grown-up songs that are well within reach of young ears. --Beth Massa

What Customers Say About Shrek - Music From the Original Motion Picture:

He loves the Shrek movies so now we have a CD to dance and sing along with while we're not watching TV.

When I saw the movie 'Shrek' and loved it, I picked up the sound track on CD. Apparently not what I thought. It's simple, it's a GAS station. Ya, that would have been helpful. When I pull into the gas station, I grab the 'regular' pump and fill up my truck. What would I have wanted to know when I purchased this product. This ain't it. what does that mean exactly. "Soundtrack".

I was severely disappointed, and threw the da**ed thing away. Oh no, I'm told, you must read all the fine print before you buy gas. That it's not the soundtrack from Shrek. I'm not judging the music on the CD, but I want you to know that it is NOT THE SOUNDTRACK from the movie, nor are the songs performed by the same artists, nor with the same arrangement. Simple, right. or buy a soundtrack. If you want the soundtrack from the brilliant movie 'Shrek', I don't know where you'll find it. Not even close.

Movie and songs are awesome. You expect the songs and artists to be the same as the ORIGINAL motion picture. Still a great CD. But if it's going to say Music from the ORIGINAL motion picture. What a rip off.Don't get me wrong, the CD still sounds awesome and I love the songs. But having not the original artists sing the song is like buying Kids Bop or having me sing the songs to you.

I bought this CD just so I could get track number 10 "Hallelujah". I understand that the movie version is different from the CD soundtrack version because a different artist sings in the movie version. I like this actual CD version better.

We love this cd -- this one is actually a replacement for a lost one.
